Synopsis
China is a nation with many ethnic minorities. Each group of people maintain their traditional way of life and adapted ways of making things that are indigenous to their environment and needs. In the Southwest part of China pottery making is a strong part of their culture. The techniques found here cover most of the methods of making pottery in human history. From the most basic method of making a pot by coiling and using no other tool, to using fast turning wheel and jiggering, from firing in a pit to using a dragon kiln, one can see the living history of the development of pottery in this part of China.
